Impact of COVID-19 on our operations in Auckland, New Zealand

Dear customers

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, UL has closely monitored the situation and activated plans at a local and global level to help assure the safety and well-being of our employees, customers and communities.

New Zealand moved to COVID-19 Alert Level 4 on Wednesday 25 March and this means that all people in New Zealand not providing essential services are required to stay at home and stop all interactions with those outside their immediate household. This situation of “shutdown” will remain for an initial period of four weeks.

All UL staff based in New Zealand are currently working from home. This has minimal impact on some of our activities, however will prevent any testing taking place in our Auckland laboratory.

For active projects where physical testing has been completed, engineering review and the issue of test reports will continue. Where testing has not been completed, projects will unfortunately remain on hold until our staff are permitted to return to work.

Please know, however, that business continuity is a top priority for our team, and we are focused on continuing to provide the services you need. Multiple UL facilities remain operational in other areas of the world, and our team are actively exploring the feasibility of testing to be conducted at these facilities where necessary competency and laboratory accreditation is in place.

Safety is the heart of our mission. Employee well-being is paramount, and so is remaining focused on informing and supporting our customers during this time. We are continually evolving our response and taking decisive action to stay aligned with recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other regional authorities.

I am committed to our partnership, informing you as the situation evolves and dedicated to utilizing UL’s resources and expertise to accommodate your needs. If you have any questions about your project or our operations in general, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

Thank you for your continued patience and support during this time.

Stay healthy and safe.
